Newmarket School - Growing Great Leaders
At Newmarket School we have a strong leadership programme in which all students can participate. Our guiding principles focus on leadership at all levels of the school.
Our leadership principles include:
1. Leading Self
This is about Whanaungatanga (relationships). Being connected requires students to develop a secure sense of identity. To achieve this we learn to know ourselves, develop resilience, set goals, and work towards achieving these goals and our potential.
2. Leading with others
This is about Manaakitanga (values). Developing a generosity of spirit involves the ability to walk in others' shoes, to see issues from others' perspectives, to develop empathy and to support others.
3. Leading in our world
This is about about Kaitiakitanga (guardianship). Our hands-on learners are guardians that aim high, step up, and are thoughtful and sensitive of environments both local and distant.
